Level: I know how to thread and use a sewing machine. I know how to sew a little : I have graduated from the course Learn To Sew or made at least a few projects by myself.
Objectives: Gain in autonomy in order to be able to adjust or give a second life to my beloved clothes... for the good of the planet and my wallet ;)
Duration: 5 lessons / 3 hours per lesson / 1 lesson per week / total of 15 hours.
Materials: You will have access to one of our sewing machines, our tutorial and our tools. We will provide the fabric and supplies for the exercises. However, you will need to bring an old t-shirt for certain exercises as well as pieces of clothe to repair or adjust. You might have to purchase the necessary materials, if necessary.

What you’ll learn: A course entirely dedicated to learning how to repair holes, shorten, lengthen, taper or enlarge your clothes using a domestic sewing machine. The first three lessons are devoted to making exercices on samples which will allow you to get acquainted with the most common repair and retouching techniques. Afterwards, we will apply this new knowledge to fixing your own clothes!
- Lesson 1: Basic Theory and Repairing holes. Darning on a sewing machine, applying patches, replacing worn-out areas, repairing holes by hand, how to rip effectively.
- Lesson 2: Lengthening & shortening. Hemming jeans, T-shirts, sewing invisible hems and adding stretch cuffs.
- Lesson 3: Tapering and Enlarging. Making a garment smaller or bigger using existing features. Taking in or letting out seams, adding darts, or cinching pants at the waist without having to reinvent everything.
- Lessons 4 & 5: Open projects. It's time to repair and fix your own clothes! We will help you to select the repairs and modifications that will allow you to put your new knowledge into practice and save your clothes!

This course follows a well-structured format, which makes it difficult to arrange make-up sessions. Being present and on time for each class will greatly enhance your learning experience and is sincerely appreciated. :)
