Work at the Open Studio and use our sewing machines

Welcome to the Open Studio!

The Open Studio allows you to rent a sewing machine by the hour and gives you access to everything our space has to offer! For those who don't have a sewing machine at home, need to use a serger, a good iron, or don't have a suitable space to cut and sew their sewing projects ; the Open Studio is the opportunity to work on your projects or make one of the many projects we have to offer in a environment designed to allow creativity to flourish!
We can give you advise on the selection of fabrics and supervise you when working on your projects. We have only one desire: sharing our love for sewing and fabrics with you :)
Opening hours of the Open Studio
Every Friday, from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Minimum of 2 hours
Price: $20 taxes included per person for 2 hours
$10 taxes included per additional hour
Maximum of 5 people in the studio
By reserving a spot in the Open Studio, you will have full access to the space! You will be able to use our sewing machines, sergers, cut your projects on the cutting table, use our patterns, sewing books, scissors, rulers, and other tools. We will also have threads at your disposal :) However, the fabrics and other supplies needed to complete your project are not included. You will therefore have to bring your own materials, or purchase them at La Fabrique éthique for an additional fee.
IMPORTANT: Although there will be a teacher on site, this is not a sewing class. it is rather an opportunity to work in a pleasant sewing studio while spending time with us, while we also work on our own projects. You will have access to the space, our tools and our patterns! You will however have to be a little independent :)
If you need explanations and advice, an additional $15 will be charged for every 30 minutes of assistance.
If you need constant assistance, we strongly recommend that you reserve a spot for a group class, pay-per-class lesson, or a private lesson.

You'd like to work on a project in the Open Studio and rent a sewing machine, but you're not entirely independent. You've encountered a problem and really need some explanations! You'd like to have the opportunity to ask questions from a resourceful person from time to time. Whether it's to receive explanations on one of our thematic projects, your own projects, or receive express training before using a sewing machine or overlocker, we're here to help!

Take your complete list of measurements home with you! To make clothes that fit, you must first know your exact measurements ... and it is very difficult to measure your back length alone! We therefore offer you this service. You can view the list of measurements that we will be taking right HERE! Do not forget to dress in very tight clothing (leggings and tight top) if you want accurate measurements :)

Mandatory appointment - Accessible to beginners
Duration: 3 hours
Price: $50 taxes included, materials provided (fabric options: burgundy, navy, forest green or white.)
Available sizes: from Child 11 to Women’s 11.
Learn how to thread and use the sewing machine to sew a pair of slippers! Creative project with semi-independent guidance: we teach you how to use the machine, and you complete a project guided by a tutorial, with a teacher available to answer your questions.

Mandatory appointment - Maximum 5 people
Duration: 1 hour
Price: $30 taxes included, materials provided

A condensed training lasting one hour to enable you to thread a sewing machine, understand its basic settings, how to place your hands and practice by yourself on fabric scraps. You will practice on the machines that we have at the studio.
